- Gerald R. “Gerry” Haseley passed from this earthly life on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family while under Niagara Hospice care. He was born in Niagara Falls on September 19, 1929, a son of the late Wilbur and Caroline (Steinbrenner) Haseley. He attended local schools including the former Trott Vocational High School.
Mr. Haseley was employed for 35 years as a crew leader for the City of Niagara Falls Waste Water Treatment Plant and then transferred in that position to the Niagara Falls Convention Center retiring in 1985.
Gerry was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church on Walmore Road. He also was a very active longtime member of the Town of Niagara Lion’s Club and was involved with the Lion’s in local parades and in fundraising events. He also loved to play Pool and Euchre with his many friends and teammates at Crestwood Commons and his favorite activity was going for coffee with the boys. “Everyone loved Gerry”.
Survivors include his daughters Bonnie (David Jr.) Bolea of Southport, North Carolina and Deborah (Jose) Busquet of Las Vegas, Nevada, a brother Donald (late Dorothy) Haseley of North Carolina, six grandchildren: Hiede (Dale) Erickson, Michelle McAnulty, Cheryl (Luis) Maldonado, Steven McAnulty, David M. (Rhonda) Bolea and Michael McAnulty, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, the former Jean Ann Penman (2013), two brothers Wilbur & Alfred Haseley and a sister Sandra Anscomb.
There will be no prior visitation. Friends are invited to attend services and a celebration of Gerry’s life on Friday October 27, 2017 at 11 A.M. in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road. Town of Wheatfield with Rev. Tom Thorstad and Rev. Jon Haseley co-officiating. A luncheon will follow in the St. Peter’s School immediately after the service.
Everyone is invited to attend the committal service Friday at 2:00 PM at Acacia Park Cemetery, 4215 Tonawanda Creek Road, North Tonawanda, NY 14120. Everyone please meet at the cemetery main entrance. If desired, donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, Inc. 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094 or to the Town of Niagara Lions Club.
