Marjorie A. (Hanavan) Metz
May 23, 2006. Age 82. Beloved wife of the late Robert Metz; dearest mother of Marilynn (Mark Falzone) Metz, Michael (Robin) Metz and Martha (Douglas) Claydon; grandmother of seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sister of Lawrence Hanavan and Sally (late John) Hartmayer; also survived by nieces and nephews. The family will be present to receive friends Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the (Cleveland Hill Chapel) AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME & Cremation Service, 569 Cleveland Dr., where funeral services will be held Friday at 9:15 AM and a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated from St. Aloysius Gonzaga Church at 10:00 AM. Friends invited. Flowers gratefully declined. If desired, memorials may be made in Mrs. Metz's memory to Upstate New York Transplant Services, 110 Broadway, Buffalo 14203. Marjorie A. Metz of Cheektowaga, a retired sales representative, died Tuesday in Weinberg Campus, Amherst, after a long illness. She was 82.
Born Marjorie Hanavan in Buffalo, she graduated from Kensington High School and attended Kensington Business School.
She worked as a sales representative for Hengerer's and Sibley's department stores from 1969 until her retirement in 1990.
She was married to Robert M. Metz for 41 years. He died in 1989.
Mrs. Metz was a parishioner of St. Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic Church and a member of its Rosary and Altar Society.
Survivors include a son, Michael of Amherst; two daughters, Marilyn of Kenmore and Martha Claydon of Amherst; a brother, Lawrence Hanavan of Mount Laurel, N.J.; a sister, Sally Hartmayer of the Town of Tonawanda; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10 a.m. Friday in St. Aloysius Gonzaga Church, 157 Cleveland Drive, Cheektowaga. Burial will be in Nativity of Our Lord Cemetery, Orchard Park.
