Father of Four
Killed in Action
A former resident of this city and
employee of the Carborundum com-
pany. Private First Class Grover
Vandenbosch, 30, was killed in ac-
tion in Belgium on January 30, it
was disclosed today in a War de-
partment notification to his wife,
Betty Vandenbosch, of Rochester,
N.Y.
The doldier, who was serving with
the Gilder Infantry, sustained
wounds during the invasion of Nor-
mandy on June 9. In October, 1944,
he was wounded again in Holland.
He had been awarded the Purple
Heart.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
John H. VandenBosch, of Roches-
ter, and is sthe father of three sons
and one daughter.
Serving with the American Air
Force in England is another brother,
Private Joseph R. VandenBosch.
He is survived by the parents and
the following brothers and sisters:
victor VandenBosch, Lewiston, N.
Y.; Mrs. Gottlieb Steinbrenner,
John VandenBosch, Jr. and Mrs.
Chester Griffith, all of this city;
Mrs. Catherine Reiter, Jacob Van-
denBosch and Frederick Vanden-
Bosch, Mrs. Gerald Deutsch and
Mrs. George Schulenburg, of
Rochester.
