- Donald Ralph Pokelwaldt-Martins Point - Donald Ralph Pokelwaldt, 75, of Martins Point, died Friday, August 2, 2013, in his residence. Mr. Pokelwaldt was born in N. Tonawanda, NY and has lived on the Outer Banks for the past 28 years. He was retired as a Master Chief from the U.S. Navy after 23 years of service and was retired owner/operator of Waldt Construction Inc. for 25 years. Mr. Pokelwaldt was a member of Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Church, Duck Woods Country Club where he enjoyed golfing two to three times a week with the "Funsters." Donald traveled extensively with his camper and loved fishing and boating both on the Outer Banks and the Caribbean. He was a family man and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.He was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Charlotte Marshall Pokelwaldt and was the husband of 55 years to Gloria Kirisits Pokelwaldt of the home.In addition to his wife surviving are three daughters, Karen Boaz, Pamela Williams and Patti Reynolds; grandchildren, Jason (Ashley) McDougal, Justin Boaz, Nathan Boaz, Jessica Reynolds, Robert Guy Reynolds and Tony Marshall Williams, Jr; great grandchildren, Andrew McDougal and Noah McDougal; brothers, Robert (Laurie) Pokelwaldt, Norman (Diane) Pokelwaldt, Thomas (Carol) Pokelwaldt and sister Kathleen Carroll. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated by Rev. Dr. William F. Walsh O.S. F. S., at Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Church in Kitty Hawk, Wednesday, August 7, at 11:30 a.m. Inurnment will be in St. Stephen of the Martyr Catholic Church 1544 Battlefield Blvd S.Chesapeake, VA Thursday, August 8, at 11 a.m. Friends may join the family at Twiford Funeral Home Manteo, Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the
charity of one's choice.
