- Fred J. Metro, 87, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late John and Assunta (DiPaoto) Metro.
Fred attended local schools and graduated from Trott Vocational High School. On October 30, 1965 he married the love his life, Janet (Harrigan) Metro, in Sacred Heart Church. They spent 43 memorable years together until Janet’s passing in 2008.
Fred was employed by Anderson Electric in Niagara Falls as a salesman for over 52 years prior to his retirement. He was a longtime member of the I.S.D.A Power City Lodge and also enjoyed to fish. Above all, Fred cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
Fred is survived by his children, Donna (Paul) Dullen and John (Kate) Metro; as well as his grandchildren Brianna Dullen, Lucy Metro, and Samuel Metro. He was predeceased by his older siblings, Wilhemina (late Charles) Valenti, Joseph (late Sylvia) Metro, Nicholas (late Lillian) Metro, Carmella ‘Tootsie’ (late Charles) Marinello, Mary (late Sylvester) Scollin, Elizabeth (late Emil) Pasquantino, Mariano (late Doris) Metro, and Frank (late Josephine) Metro.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 5 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Fred’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 6 at 12 Noon in St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. Please assemble at church. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Memorial offerings may be made to the American Heart Association or Catholic Charities.
