TUCSON, AZ - Hilda Bertha Ferchen (nee Wienke), age 100, of Tucson, AZ, entered her eternal rest on August 2, 2010, in LaCanada Care Center, Tucson, AZ. She was a former resident of the Town of Wheatfield and had resided in Arizona since 1973. She was born May 8, 1910, in the Town of Lewiston, and was the daughter of Adolph and Bertha Wienke (nee Haseley). She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Bergholz, and the Ladies Aid Society. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, playing bingo and traveling.
Hilda was the wife of the late Hubert Ferchen, who died in 1989; they were married June 11, 1933, in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Sanborn. Beloved mother of Audrey (Glenn) Schmidli of Wheatfield; grandmother of Kenneth (Vicky) Schmidli of Black Hawk, CO, Mark Schmidli of Niagara Falls, Darleen (John) Finn of North Tonawanda and Doreen (Richard) Parisse of Wilson. Great-grandmother of Brittany Schmidli, Jacob Parisse, Michael Finn and Lindsey Parisse. Sister of the late Walter and Clarence Wienke. Aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., in North Tonawanda on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 AM from St. James Lutheran Church, 2437 Niagara Rd., Bergholz, the Rev. Jeff Milsten will officiate. Interment in St. James Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church or Evercare Hospice, 5245 E. Broadway Blvd., #510, Tucson, AZ 85711.
