Arthur P.J. DuBois, 93, who served for 65 years with Bergholz Fire Company, died Monday (July 28, 2003) in Elderwood Health Care Center at CrestWood after a brief illness.
He was born in the Town of Niagara and attended local schools.
DuBois was a lifelong member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Bergholz, where he served as trustee, elder, vice chairman, chairman and treasurer of its board. He also served on the Building Committee and several other committees and boards.
He was also a former member of the Lutheran Layman's League.
A charter member of Bergholz Fire Company, DuBois served as assistant secretary, secretary, vice president and president and was a member of the Building Committee. He also played with the Bergholz German Band for more than 30 years.
He worked as maintenance superintendent at General Abrasives in Niagara Falls for 44 years, retiring in 1975.
DuBois enjoyed vegetable gardening.
His wife of 61 years, Marion Haseley-Walck DuBois, died in 1996.
Survivors include a son, Duane of Sanborn; a daughter, Jane Andrews of Sanborn; a brother, Walter of Niagara Falls; and two granddaughters.
Services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Niagara Road and Luther Street, Bergholz. Burial will be in Holy Ghost Lutheran Cemetery, Bergholz
