WWII veteran, 70, was volunteer firefighter
WHEATFIELD - Herbert A. DuBois, 70, of Maple Drive, died Sunday (Apri1 16, 1995) at his residence after a lengthy illness. The Niagara Falls native was born May 15, 1924, the son of Albert and Christine (Ferchen) DuBois.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion Wheatfield Post 1451.
Mr. DuBois was employed at General Abrasives in Niagara Falls as a millwright for 41 years. He retired in 1987.
He was an exempt member of the Bergholz Volunteer Fire County, a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Walmore Road and a member of the Wheatfield Senior Citizens.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Emily (Walck) DuBois, who died on Feb. 3, 1980. Mr. DuBois is survived by his second wife, Ardis (Haseley) DuBois of Wheatfield; two sons, Douglas DuBois of Amherst and Calvin DuBois of Sanborn; a stepson, Gary Wolf of Wheatfield; a step-daughter, Barbara Savard of Riverside, Calif.; two brothers, Arthur DuBois of Wheatfield and Walter DuBois of Niagara Falls; two sisters, Eleanor Wienke of Wheatfield and Elizabeth Heuer of Bergholz; a granddaughter; a grandson; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Minnie Camann, Ruth Hassan, William DuBois and Edwin DuBois. Friends may call at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz, where the Bergholz Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a, memorial service at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Ronald Majeroni will conduct services at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Walmore Road. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
