- Jesse D. Kelley, 59, of Ransomville, NY, died Saturday June 27, 2003, in the Roswell Park Cancer Institute after a long illness.
He was born on February 22, 1944, in Rochester, Monroe County, NY, the son of Jessie D. " JD " and Marianita [ Kelly ] Kelley, and moved to Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY as a child. He was a member of the first graduating class Niagara Wheatfield High School, in 1963. He served in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1974, serving in Vietnam and was the recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal/with Bronze Star and FMF Device Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal/ and the National Defense Service Medal. Jesse was employed as an iron worker, for various area contractors, through Iron Workers Local, where he was a member for 35 years.
Surviving is his wife Jackie; sisters and brothers, Maxie L. [ late Paul ] Jacobs, of Sanborn, NY; Donald B. [ Janet ] Kelley, of Cleveland, TN; Jennie C. [ Richard ] Wigle, of North Tonawanda, Niagara County, NY; Michael W. [ Sally ] Kelley, of Cleveland, TN; he is also survived by 9 nieces and nephews; 11 great nieces and nephews; and 1 great great nephew.
The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM, Sunday, where funeral services will be held Monday at 11 AM, with the Rev. Randy LeBaron, officiating.
Burial will be in the Acacia Park Cemetery
