Roger A. Williams of Newfane, entered into rest on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Eastern Niagara Hospital of Newfane. Born September 23, 1930 in Lockport, he was the son of the late Arthur E.G. and Alvina (nee Wittcop) Williams. Roger had worked at Harrison Radiator as a production worker for 30 years. He retired in 1983. Roger married Jeanne Ferguson June 4, 1960 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Ridgewood. An Army veteran, he served his country during the Korean War in the 125th Division 14th Infantry Tank Company as a gunner. He achieved the rank of Corporal. Roger loved his family and enjoyed gardening. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church for 49 years, serving on the church council for 24 years, was financial secretary for 20 years and also served as trustee. His loving wife, Jeanne Williams, survives him; dear father of Barbara Williams of Newfane, Paul Williams of Newfane, Norma Jeanne (John) Jacobs of Wheatfield and Robert Williams of Wheatfield; brother of Reverend Edwin (Carol) Williams of Omaha, NE, Kathryn Klotzbach of Medina and Richard (Sharon) Williams of Lockport; brother-in-law of James (Martha) Ferguson of Lockport; loving grandfather of Siana and Mackenzie Jacobs; several nieces and nephews also survive him. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Kenneth H. Sherrie Funeral Home, 6139 East Avenue, Newfane, NY on Thursday from 7-9 PM and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM from the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 7147 Ridge Road, Ridgewood, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the Organ fund at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Eastern Niagara Hospital of Newfane or Newfane Miller Hose Volunteer Fire Company.
