Miss Violet Bartz, whose marriage
to Benjamin Haseley will take place
Saturday, January 4, was delightfully
entertained at a variety shower
given at the home of Mrs. Arthur
Rlckert, in Seventy-seventh street,
Thursday evening.
A delicious luncheon was served at
a table beautifully aecoratcd in yellow
and green, being centered with a
bowl of yellow and white chrysanthemums,
flanked by Ivory tapers in silver
holders.
The guest of honor was presented
with many beautiful gifts. About 30
guests were present.

Miss Violet Bartz and Benjamin
Haseley, whose wedding will take place
tomorrow, were guests of honor last
evening at a dinner dance given by
employes of the Niagara Falls Gazette
in The Roslyn, Buffalo avenue.
Miss Bartz Is an office employe of the
Gazette company.
Forty guests attended the affair. A
steak dinner was served at a long
table In the main dining room. The
table was centered with a large bowl
of red poinsettias, flanked by ivory
tapers in rock crystal holders. Each
place was marked by a miniature bride
and bridegroom. During the dinner
Miss Bartz and Mr. Haseley were presented
with a dozen white Wedgewood
dinner plates with a blue grape design.
The presentation was made by
Lyman Chandler, superintendent of
the Gazette's Job Printing department,
on behalf of the employes.
A pleasing feature of the dinner
was the recognition of the birthday of
Herbert Cleland, Niagara Falls, Ont..
one of the guests. While musicians
played appropriate music, waiters carried
a large birthday cake, graced by
lighted candles, to Mr. Cleland's place
at the table. After the guests had
congratulated Mr. Cleland he made a
short speech of appreciation.
Artistic containers of confetti were
at each place and, while musicians
played the Lohengrin wedding march,
the guests showered Miss Bartz and
Mr. Haseley with confetti. Dancing
followed the dinner. Among the out
of town guests were Miss Marion
Abend, Syracuse.
