- Leonard Belisle
Leonard E. Belisle, 70, of Bonita Springs, Fla., formerly of Kankalee and Manteno, died at 12:45 a.m. today at St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee, following a sudden illness.
He was born Sept. 16, 1912, in St. George, to Felix and Mina Mathews Belisle. He was married to the former Darlene Guimond July 12, 1938. She died Aug. 15, 1981.
Mr. Belisle was manager of Uptown Paint and Body Shop for 30 years, until retiring seven years ago. He moved to Manteno upon his retirement and was employed as a bus driver by the Manteno school district. He moved to Florida in October 1982. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Manteno, and the Holy Name Society. He was a fourth degree Knights of Columbus member and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the Kankakee Elks Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Myrna Lezotte of Kankakee; one son, David of Williston, N.D.; four grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jill Lezotte of Kankakee, and Jennifer and Christine Belisle of Williston and two sisters, Edna Benoit of Bourbonnais, and Mildred LaMontage of St. George.
One brother, Leroy, and one sister, Marie Rivard, are deceased.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Sunday at Schreffler and Sexton Funeral Home, Manteno Chapel, with a wake service at 6:30 p.m. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Donald P. Pock oficiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in his name to the Oncology Department of St. Mary's Hospital.
