- Rev. Eugene W. Beutel, 77, of Camp Hill, formerly of Freehold and Neptune, NJ, passed away Monday, April 25, 2005 in Holy Spirit Hospital.
Born July 27, 1927 in Sanborn, NY, he was the son of the late Edwin and Alice Beutel.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving as Army Chaplain in Korea from 1953-1955 and a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. He served as a Mission Pastor in Baltimore, MD and Neptune, NJ. While living in Freehold, NJ, he was the Mission and Service Director of the American Lutheran Church in the Northeast Area. He obtained his Doctor of Ministry from Princeton University and went on to serve as Coordinator of Region 8 for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Rev. Beutel is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dolores M. Hanson; three sons, David Beutel and wife, Robin Marek of North Kingston, RI, Paul Beutel and wife, Teena of Newport, PA and Jonathan Beutel of Manasquan, NJ; eight siblings and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 A.M. on Monday, May 2, 2005, in Saint Timothy Lutheran Church, 4200 Market Street, Camp Hill. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Viewing will be held from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday, May 1, 2005, in the Neil Funeral Home, 3401 Market Street, Camp Hill and from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Monday, in the church.
