  Notes	Niagara Gazette - 8/20/1949 BERGHOLTZ. Aug. 20.-A lovely wedding was solemnized Saturday afternoon. August 13. at 3 o'clock in the St. James Lutheran church, when Miss Loraine Burger, daugh ter of Mr.. and Mrs. William Buer- ger, Bergholtz, was unite in mar- riage to Mr.. Robert G. Taylor, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Taylor, 1926 LaSalle avenue, Niagara Falls. The Rev.. Walter Williams, uncle of the bride, from Defiance, O. performe the double ring cere- mony, which took place before an altar enhanced with an all-white floral arrangement of carnations, gladioli and palms. Musical back- ground for the wedding was pro- vided by Theodore Graban, who accompanied Edward Schultz, cou- sin of the bride, vocallist. The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a gown of lumin- ous traditional satin,, richlly ac- cented with a hooped skirt of cir- culating Chantilly lace. Lavish seed pearlls and perll beading out- lined each quilted raised floral mo- tif extending from the filmy yoke throughout the princes panel into the clustered flowers of the bouf- fant skirt. The long fitted sleeves, edged with lace, came to a point over her hand. She carried a white prayer book with an orchid and streamers of babies' breath. Miss Helen Marie Buerger, the bride's sister, was maid of honor, gowned in pink ninon highighting a ditinguised filmy yoke dropping a bertha gathered shoulderette and matching gauntlet. She carried a cascade bouquet. Miss Ruth Loge, Mrs.. Roland Camann, Mrs. Harold Wienke and Mrs. Ray Wienke acted as brides- maids. They wore orchid gowns similar to that of the maid of hon- or, with matching headpieces and gauntlets. Each carried white gladioli centere with orchid gladi- oli buds. The bridegroom was attended by Gordon R. Voelker as bestman ad the ushers were Harold Wienke, Harold Thompson,, John Roach and J.. Drummond Murray. Mrs. William Buerger, mother of the bride, was attired in a navy blue lace dress with white acces- sories. Mrs Williamm Taylor, moth- er of the bridegroom,, chose a gray lace dress with gray and green ac- cessories. A dinner for 85 guests was served at the Plantation restaurant fol- lowed by a receptionn at the Berg- oltz firehall, where 335 guests were received. Upon the return of Mr. Taylor and his bride fromm a trip through the New England states and the Thousand Islands they wil reside in Rochester, where Mr. Taylor will attend Rochester Institute of Tech- nology.

  Loraine Alice's Story Loraine Alice Buerger Taylor, 90, of Eustis, FL, formerly of Portland, CT, wife of the late Robert G. Taylor died peacefully in Florida on Sunday, May 6, 2018. Loraine was born to William and Josephine Williams Buerger on March 13, 1928 in Niagara Falls, NY, and was baptized into the Christian faith on March 25, 1928. On August 13, 1949, Loraine and Bob were united in marriage for 35 years until Bob's death. She will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Bonnine Labbadia and her husband Vincent of Eustis, FL, and Virginia Duffy and her husband Steven of Hanover, NH; granddaughters, Wendy Violissi (husband Frank), Heather Hetrick (husband Robert), Taylor Leeser (husband Jonathan), Tamara Engler (husband Brian), Deanna Welsch (husband James), and Ilene Olson; four great-grandchildren, Thomas, Shelby, Alex, Chloe and her loving and dear friends. She is also survived by her brother, William E. Buerger (wife Helen) of Sanborn, NY and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, father, sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Gordon Voelker. Loraine cherished her faith and was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, was an active member of Women of the Church, Grace Guild, and sang in the choir for over 50 years. In addition to helping at the church whenever needed, she was a familiar face in the Portland community and a dedicated volunteer for many years at every election and at the Portland Food Bank. She loved meeting new people and treasured all her friendships. An avid gardener, she was a long-time member of the Portland River Valley Garden Club and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed her time working at Middlesex Eye Physicians for 33 years and considered them her second family. Loraine will always be remembered for her warm smile, caring and thoughtful ways, helping and giving back to others and sharing her potato soup and German potato salad. Friends may call at the Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, CT on Monday, May 14, 2018, from 5 to 7 PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at 11 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 183 William St., Portland, CT, with burial immediately following at the Swedish Cemetery in Portland.
