- E. L. Benoit, Subdivison Owner, Dies
Funeral services will be 1904 at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Maternity BVW Church, Bourbonnais, for Eugene L. Benoit, 68, RR3, Bourbonnais. Mr. Benoit died at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Hospital following an extend illness.
Mr. Benoit was a lifelong resident of Bourbonnais and farmed until his retirement in 1958. He was a real estate developer and owner of Indian Acres Subdivision, and former owner of Liberty Laundry in Bourbonnais.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, third degree; Catholic Order of Foresters; Kankakee County Farm Bureau and Maternity Holy Name Society.
He was born March 24, 1904 in Bourbonnais, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe D. Benoit.
In 1924, he married the former Edna Belisle, who survives. Also surviving are daughters, Mrs. John F. Mason, Mrs. Cas Daucanski, and Mrs. Richard Hildebrand, all of Bourbonnais; sons, Vernon of Los Angeles, Calif., Wayne of Centralis, Mo., and Stephen of Bourbonnais; 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Albert J. Sr., of Bourbonnais, Dolore of Plainville, Inc., Ray J. of Kankakee, Robert of Rensselaer, Inc., and Lambert of Sacramento, Calif.; sisters, Mrs. Clarence Owen of Bourbonnais, Mrs. Dorothy Hebbert of Elkhart, Ind., Mrs. Lionel Lanous of Manteno, Mrs. Fred Grasser of Bourbonnais and Mrs. George Hatting of Kankakee.
The concelebrated mass fill be celebrated by the Rev. Harold Devereaux, pastor of Maternity Church, assisted by the Rev. Armond Matthew, oblate father.
Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery.
