- Carol Joyce (Pfohl) Walck, 82 of Sanborn, NY passed into eternal rest with her Lord and Savior at Elderwood Health Care Facility in Lockport on September 7, 2024. She was born in Niagara Falls, New York, on June 24, 1943, to the late Wallace and Edna (Schimschack) Pfohl.On October 19, 1963, Carol married Gilbert Irwin Walck, her husband of 56 years, who predeceased her in 2020. Carol attended St. Peter’s Lutheran School, graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School in 1961, and then worked for the Farm Service Agency for USDA prior to starting a family. Carol was very proud of the family dairy farm in Niagara County which she supported in many ways such as providing bookkeeping and a field meal service that was second to none. Carol also enjoyed working part-time for the AM&A’s Department Store in Niagara Falls. Carol loved her annual trips to Ohio Amish country, taking bike rides to the farm, and baking for her family and relatives. Above everything else, Carol’s greatest joy was being a loving homemaker, where she did so much for so many. She was a caring and compassionate person who always put others before herself.Carol was a life-long member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church where she served on the altar guild and supported many women of the church activities. Carol had a very strong faith in God and always knew that someday heaven would be her home. Carol will be sadly missed and will always be part of our daily thoughts and prayers. Colossians 3:12 says, “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”Carol is survived by three children, Randy J. (Amy) Walck, Darla J. (Randall) Retzlaff, and Gary K. (Jill Haseley) Walck; six grandchildren, Tyler (Laura) Kroening, Matthew Kroening, Brock Kroening; Sara (Jonathan) Eggert, Katie and Luke Walck; two great-grandchildren Mark and Anna Kroening. She was predeceased by a brother, Harry Dickenson in 2023, and son-in-law Mark D. Kroening in 2007.Friends may call at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Tuesday (September 10) from 4-8 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Kurt Jensen, on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY 14132. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
