- Diana Haseley Winch Obituary
FL - Diana Ruth Haseley Winch, age 82, died peacefully at her home on Monday, March 24, 2025 in Port Orange, Florida after a long battle with dementia. Diana was born on July 5, 1942 in Niagara Falls, New York to Melvin and Winifred (Franke) Haseley. She graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School in 1960. After graduation, Diana attended Millard Fillmore Nursing School with her cousin Judith Haseley Brooks, graduating in 1963. After graduating, she worked for an OB/GYN doctors' office for 15 years.
Diana met James O. Winch, Jr. in 1965 and they were married at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in LaSalle, NY on June 25, 1966. They resided on Grand Island, New York until 1993 when they moved to McHenry, IL. Diana worked at a local physician's office. They moved to Pisgah Forest, NC in 2001 where she worked at the Brian Center for Health and Rehabilitation. After retiring from nursing in 2007, she put her love of sewing to work at a local sewing shop. In 2016, they moved to Port Orange, FL, where she was lovingly cared for by her husband during her illness.
Diana is survived by her husband James of 59 years, her children, Elizabeth (Randy) Southard of Fort Benton, MT, Kristen Keenan of New York, NY, Scott (Hanna) Winch of Chicago, IL, and grandchildren Wyatt Southard of Eau Claire, WI and Benjamin Southard of Great Falls, MT. She is also survived by her brother, Arthur Haseley, several nieces, and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bruce Haseley, and her nephew Matthew Haseley.
Diana loved to read and garden, and was a talented seamstress. She enjoyed sewing everything from clothing to doll clothes. Over the years, she was involved in the churches she belonged to, attending weekly services, making quilts for charity, and Bible studies. She also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
A memorial service for Diana will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 9:30 am at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bergholz, New York where she was a longtime member until moving to Illinois. There will be a brunch at the church after her interment at St. James Cemetery.
