Norman J. Wendt, a retired insurance agent, died Thursday (March 16, 2000) in Mount View Health Facility, Lockport. He was 81.
Wendt was a native of Sanborn.
He worked for a time for the Wurlitzer Plant in North Tonawanda and the Carborundum Co. in Niagara Falls.
Wendt then became an agent with the Nationwide Insurance Co. and retired in 1980 after 30 years.
He was an active member of St. Andrew's Church in Pekin, serving as an elder, a trustee and as a member of the Lutheran Layman's League.
His wife, the former Hilda F. Haseley, died in 1981.
Wendt is survived by three sons, Edward J. of North Tonawanda; Frank P. and David N.; two daughters, Elizabeth C. LaRock and Judy E. Dawson, both of Ransomville; a brother, Edmund R.; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Lutheran Cemetery
