LEWISTON — Edmund R. Wendt, age 92, of Sanborn, died Saturday, June 23, 2012 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a brief illness.
Ed was born December 12, 1919 in Sanborn, NY, the son of the late Edward and Lena (Strassburg) Wendt, and was a lifelong resident. He married Jane M. McCollum on October 2, 1948. Jane predeceased him on April 10th of this year. Ed was a self-employed mechanic. He had worked as an Operating Engineer on the Power Project and as a bus mechanic for Niagara Wheatfield Schools.
He had attended the Ransomville United Methodist Church. Ed enjoyed building and collecting model toys, NASCAR and attending Steam Engine Shows. He also has a collection of antique cars and tractors.
He is survived by his children, Paul (Robin) Wendt of Lockport, Dan (Shelley) Wendt of Jamestown, NY, and Marleen (Conrad) Janik of Lockport; his grandchildren, Cori Flores, Raymond and Andrew Wendt, Elizabeth (Jeremy) Gruber, Edward Wendt, Conrad Jr. and Christopher Janik, and Liza Reinhardt; and three great-grandchildren, Joseph Flores, Emily Wendt and Amanda Clarkson. He was predeceased by two brothers, Alfred and Norman Wendt.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville, on Tuesday, June 26, from 6-8 PM and on Wednesday, June 27, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Ransomville United Methodist Church, 2573 Youngstown Lockport Rd., Ransomville. Funeral services will begin in the church at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Matthew Worley officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery, Pekin, NY.
