  B. C. Hoffmeister Dies; Founder Of Lumber Firm The founder of the Gratwick Lumber Co., Bernhardt C. Hoffmeister, 51, of 192 Fredericka St., died at his North Tonawanda home Thursday night after a long illness. Mr. Hoffmeister was treasurer of the Niagara-Orleans Lumbermen's Association and a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. He had served as president of the Gratwick Lumber Co. Mr. Hoffmeister is survived by his wife, the former Loa May Behm; three children, Lyle, Carl and Mrs. Donald Shimschack, all of North Tonawanda; one grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Arthur F. Duerr of North Tonawanda; and four brothers, Benjamin C, Edmund B. and Christian T. Hoffmeister of North Tonawanda, and John A. Hoffmeister of the Town of Wheatfield. Mr. Hoffmeister's body will lie in state at St. Mark's Lutheran Church before services at 2 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Loren J. Shiley will officiate.
