Donald L. Walck, 53, died Friday (July 19, 2002) in a one-vehicle accident in Dansville.
Walck was born in Niagara Falls and graduated from Starpoint Central High School in 1968. He also attended the Orleans-Niagara Board of Cooperative Educational Services and Niagara County Community College. He served in the Navy from 1968 to 1972 as an aviation electrician. He was stationed at various times in California, VA and Jacksonville, Fla. He made two six-month cruises to Antarctica. Walck worked as a machinist at Ford Motor Co.'s Buffalo Stamping Plant in Hamburg for the past eight years. Before that, he had worked at Eastman Kodak County, Rochester, and at Midland Machinery County, City of Tonawanda. Walck was a member of Lutheran Church of the Messiah, Lewiston; Wheatfield Post 1451, American Legion; and the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include a son, Jason of Sanborn; a daughter, Kathryn of Niagara Falls; his mother, Jean of Cambria; a brother, Jerry of Ransomville; and two sisters, Patricia Purdy of Wheatfield and Pamela of Cheektowaga. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Park, Amherst.
