Elmer A. De Vantier 84, of the Town of Cambria, NY died Wednesday June 12, 2002, in the Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, Niagara County, NY, after a long illness.
He was born February 6, 1918, in the Town of Niagara the son of Albert and Christine [ Hoffmeister ] De Vantier, where he attended local schools. Always living on a farm, Elmer began his farming career at an early age, assisting with the farm chores as a child.
He moved to the town of Cambria, in 1944, where he continued to operate his own farm, until his health prevented him from doing so. He was a longtime member of the St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Pekin, Niagara County, NY.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Ruth E. Mueller; two sons, Richard De Vantier; Robert and wife Susan De Vantier, all of Sanborn, NY; Susan Thompson; Sharon and husband Kenneth Walker, of Sanborn, NY; one sister Lydia and husband Norman Mueller, of the Town of Niagara, Niagara County, NY; six grandchildren, Michelle Thompson; Jayme Thompson; Dan Walker; Andrew Walker; Rebecca Drabczyk and Christina De Vantier.
He was pre-deceased by one brother, Norman De Vantier, one sister, Gladys Milleville and one son-in-law William Thompson.
The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn, NY, from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 P.M., Friday.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 am, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 3229 Upper Mountain Road, Pekin, Niagara County, NY, with the Rev. R,. Peter Voegeler, officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Andrew Lutheran Cemetery.
