- Maureen Kroening Was Active In St. James Church
SANBORN - Maureen (Bruss) Kroening of Saunders Settlement Road, a former secretary for the Carborundum Co., died Wednesday (July 9, 1986) at her home after a long illness. Mrs. Kroening was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Bergholz, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and secretary treasurer of the Sunday school. She was also a member of the Women of the Church and the Sanborn Fire Co. Auxiliary. She was a former media relations specialist at Occidental Chemical Corp. Mrs. Kroening is survived by her husband, Clyde R. Kroening; a son, Karl R. Kroening of Sanborn; a daughter, Candace L. Kroening of Lindsay, Ont.; her mother, Emma E. Bruss; a sister, Mrs. Hector (Donna) Machaby; and a brother, Lee Bruss of California. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. There will be no prior visitation and services will be held at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. James Lutheran Church in Bergholz. Memorials to St. James Lutheran Church or New Life Christian Ministries are acceptable as tribute. The Fretthold Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
