C. F. Ferchen Dies
NORTH TONAWANDA, April 10. -Christian Frederick Ferchen, 68 years old, died Sunday night at his home in Bergholz, where he had been a lifelong resident. For 15 years he was teacher of the St. Jacob's parochial school in Bergholz. He is survived by a wife, Augusta; two sons, Hugo, Sanborn, and Errick (sic), Bergholz; two daughters, Miss Adelia Ferchen, and Mrs. Arthur Williams, Bergholz; eight grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Hattie I. Heidenfeldt, North Tonawanda, and Mrs. August Burow, Bergholz. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence and half an hour later at the Holy Ghost church, Bergholz. Rev. John Kuchenbecker officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Ghost cemetery.

BERGHOLTZ, April 14.-The passing of Christian Frederick Ferchen, who peacefully passed away at his home in this village, at the age of 68 years, removes one of the most popular residents of this vicinity, whose life was in every respect an exemplification of Christianity and civility. Mr. Ferchen was born in this village on the 12th of August, 1859. His parents were among the first settlers of this vicinity. He at one time was a parochial school teacher for 15 years for the St. Jacob's congregation. Being of a kind, loving character, he not only endeared himself to his own family, but also to everyone with whom he came in contact. He was a talented musician, when nine years old, he started to play in a band. He also played a violin and bass viol. Mr. Ferchen had been in good health until about two weeks ago, when he was taken ill with erysipelas. The funeral services were held from the home at 2 o'clock and at 2:30 o'clock at the Holy Ghost church, Thursday. The services being conducted by the Rev. J. Kuchenbecker. He leaves a wide circle of friends, besides his wife, Auguste, two sons, Hugo of Sanborn and Erich at home, two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Williams and Miss Adelia Ferchen, at home; one brother, William Ferchen, two sisters. Mrs. Hattie Heidenfeldt and Mrs. August Burow. He also leaves eight grandchildren.
Flower bearers were: Edgar Milleville, Theodor (sic) Heuer, Herbert Strassburg, Alfred Heidenfeldt, Martin Milleville, Clarence Wittkopp, Lester Wurl and Wilmer Wurl. Pallbearers were: John Moll, August Mueller, Fred Wurl, August Williams, Philip Mueller and August Sy. Burial was in the Holy Ghost Cemetery.
