- Rev. Philip Kearns Mueller Age 88 Of Rice Lake, WI died Monday, July 30, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, WI. He was born on October 24, 1929 in Tabriz, Iran to Henry and Margaret (Kearns) Mueller. Philip graduated from the Ladysmith High School in 1947,graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, and then his Masters Degree in Divinity from the Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. Philip was married to Regina Welsch on August 27, 1954 in Jesup, Iowa. Philip’s completed his seminary internship in Fond du Lac, WI and then joined the Lutheran Orient Mission Society. Rev. Philip was ordained on April 14, 1957 in Arbil, Iraq by his father. He was Pastor at the Grace Lutheran Church in Marshfield, WI from 1959-1964, Mekane Yesus in Dessie, Ethiopia from 1965-1969, the Bethel and Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hibbing, MN from 1970-1971 while he received his degree as a Registered Nurse at the Hibbing Community College. He then was Pastor at Fish Creek, Portland, Brush Creek and North Coon Prairie in Cashton, WI from 1972-1978, L’Accueil Fraternel in Chambon-sur-Lignon, France from 1978-1980, Senegal, Linguere in 1980-1988, he was at the Grace Lutheran Church in Brill, WI and the Barronett Lutheran Church in Barronett, WI from 1988 to 1989, the Bethlehem and St. John’s in Pella, WI from 1989-1999 and retired on August 1999. He then became the visitation Pastor at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake from 2000 - 2004. Rev. Philip was a member of the Right Reverends Quartet for 17 years, taught monday morning Bible Study at Bethany Lutheran Church for 18 years, participated in the text study on Wednesday morning with other area clergy and on Friday morning he led the Men of Bethany breakfast bible study at Maxine’s Restaurant. He enjoyed reading, fishing, bird watching, hiking, deer hunting and learned 7 different languages during his life. Rev. Philip will be remembered as the music sing-a-long leader every Sunday at 8am service where he would introduce and give the background of every song. He was a very gracious and kind man and was loved by everyone that he met. We thank God that his life was shared by so many people in the world. He is survived by his wife, Regina Mueller of Rice Lake; 6 children, Michal Mueller of Clinton, Massachusetts, Marc (Toni) Mueller of Puyallup, Washington, David (Beth) Mueller of Yangon, Myanmar, Deborah Mueller of Oshkosh, WI, Keren (Elton) Jorde of Tracy, MN and Nathan (Kris) Mueller of Marvin, South Dakota; 9 grandchildren, Philip, Emily-Rose, Jonathan, Michal, James, Jessica, Rachel, Elisabeth and Andrew; 2 great grandchildren, Benjamin and Gabriel; 6 nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Margaret Mueller and a sister, Katherine Clark. Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, Rev. Grant Aaseng officiating, with interment in Our Saviors Cemetery in Campia, WI. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM Friday at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake and for one hour prior to the Funeral Service on Saturday at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the Bethany Lutheran Church, the Malawi Feeding Stations or World Hunger.
