  Tonawanda News, May 16, 1901 Old Resident Dead, Carl Ziehl of Martinsville Passed Away Yesterday - Leaves Large Family. Carl Ziehl, aged 72 years, an old resident of the town of Pendleton died yesterday morning at his home near Martinsville. Besides his wife, Maria, he leaves five daughters, Mrs. Frederick Wurl, Mrs. William Hartwig, Mrs. G. Fleischman, Mrs. John Jaenecke, and Mrs. C. F. Goerss of this city; and five sons, John, Charles, Ferdinand, Gustav and William. Fourty-four grand children and one great grandchild survive. The deceased came to Niagara County 50 years ago and by occupation has always been a farmer. He enjoyed the respect and esteem of all who knew him. The funeral will be held from the late residence at 1 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
