- Kenneth L. Geltz, lifetime area resident, passed away on Monday, February 09, 2015 at Buffalo General Hospital after a brief illness. He was 91. He was born in the Town of Niagara on October 11, 1923, a son of the late Louis and Celeste (Walck) Geltz. He attended local schools and then entered the United States Army Air Corps in 1944 and served in Japan during World War II until his honorable discharge in 1946.
After the War he worked as an industrial welder at Bell Air Craft and then as a heavy equip- ment operator and Foreman for the Town of Lewiston, retiring in 1986 as a Foreman in the drainage department.
He married Shirley Mae Taylor in 1948 and they remained happily married for 66 years until his passing. He was a lifetime member of Grace Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley M. Geltz; two sons, Ronald (Patricia) Geltz of Lockport and Robert Geltz of Niagara Falls. He is also survived by two grandsons, Stephen (Jenny) and Matthew Geltz and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Richard (late Caroline) Geltz and two sisters-in-law, Rebecca (late Richard) Taylor and Marion (late William) Mussel.
Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue on Friday from 4-8 PM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery in the Town of Lewiston.
