- NIAGARA FALLS - Edward H. Grobengieser, who operated a family grocery here for 60 years, died Wednesday in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, following a brief illness. He was 91. The Niagara Falls native attended local schools and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Grobengieser's father opened Grobengieser & Sons on the corner of 18th Street and South Avenue in 1924. Edward Grobengieser operated the store, also known as "Grobie's," alongside his father and brother for 60 years. After closing the store, Mr. Grobengieser volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church for over 20 years. He enjoyed boating, airplanes, electronics and photography and the family cabin in Canisteo. A memorial service will be held at 1 P.M. Jan. 7 in St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1920 18th St. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Bergholz, in the spring
