- Vernon C. Pankow, 73, of Nash Road, a retiree of the former National Grinding Wheel plant in North Tonawanda, died Friday (Oct. 7, 1994) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda, after a short illness.
A native of Wheatfield, Pankow was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving in Europe and Africa.
He retired from National Grinding Wheel in 1985 after 45 years.
Pankow was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and Adams Volunteer Fire Company.
Survivors include his wife, the former Grace Fahldieck; a son, William of Kentucky; a daughter, Sue Hoffman; two brothers, Wallace and Harold; two sisters, Josephine Moll and Jane Heuer; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 P.M. Sunday in St. John Lutheran Church, 6950 Ward Road. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
