Elwood L. Hillman

LOCKPORT — Elwood L. Hillman passed away on April 18, 2012. Born on September 3, 1932 in Wilson, he was the son of Elwood C. and Ruth (Schultz) Hillman.
Elwood was the garage foreman for New York Telephone for 30 years, retiring in 1990. He enjoyed working in the yard, traveling, country music, and restoring cars. He restored a 1936 Dodge truck. Elwood was a member of the NY Telephone Pioneers and also the Pendleton Historical Society.
Elwood is survived by his first wife and constant companion, Jean Haylett of Lockport; step-son of Evangeline Hillman of Lockport; father of Deborah (Howard) Gandt of Setauket, Long Island, Melody (Thomas) Zuercher of Lockport, and the late Duane Hillman; grandfather of Ashley Zuercher, Eric Gandt and Alan Gandt; brother of Annabelle (Levell) Zastrow of Newfane; step-brother of Carol (late William) Sprung of Lockport, Francis (Laurie) Hillman of Ransomville, Patty Hillman of Lockport, Sue (Stephen) Woodman of Graham, WA, Pam (Randy) Coulter of Kendall, NY, Beverly (William) Clemons of Lockport and the late Richard (Donna) Hillman; also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his second wife, Dorothy Hillman.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday, April 20th from 3-7 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport, where funeral services will immediately follow at 7 PM. Inurnment will be in the Evangelical and Protestant Cemetery, Pendleton, NY, at a later date. Donations to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Alliance Foundation, PO Box 631, Buffalo, NY 14240 would be appreciated by the family.
