Edna L. Proefrock

Edna L. Proefrock, age 95, of Wheatfield, NY, was called to her heavenly home on April 10, 2013 while at the Northgate Health Care Facility. Born in Buffalo, NY on January 25, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Marie (Murphy) Beiswanger. Edna was the wife of the late Eckhardt Proefrock, who was called home in 1991.
She was devoted to her family and friends and was always there for anyone in need. Edna had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest. She retired from the Niagara Wheatfield School District, after driving a school bus for over 21 years, and organizing school bus routes. Edna was a faithful member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Wheatfield, where she was active in the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the St. Johnsburg Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and loved playing cards and games with her friends, especially her new friends at the Woodland Senior Apartments.
Survivors include three children, Donald Proefrock of Wheatfield, Gerald (Doris) Proefrock of Sherrills Ford, NC and Jean (Randall) Hein of Lakeland, FL; a sister, Mary Slater; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Edna was also predeceased by three brothers and one sister, Edward, Robert, William and Hazel.
Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Sunday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Services will be conducted on Monday, April 15th at 11:00 AM in St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, corner of Niagara Falls Blvd. and Ward Road. Interment will follow in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
