NIAGARA FALLS — Dorothy A. (nee Pendergast) Serianne, 84, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life on Friday, July 19, 2013, while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born on October 31, 1928 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Martha (Keller) Pendergast.
Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY, and attended local schools. Over the course of her career, she was employed by New York Central Railroad and J&J Luncheonette. Dorothy later retired from Mike's Caboose. She was a devoted, active member of St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus Church in Niagara Falls, NY.
Dorothy is survived by three children, Mary (Jay) Dojka of Wheatfield, NY, Marcy (late Mark) Larsen, Sr. of Niagara Falls, NY, and David (Patti) Serianne of California; six grandchildren, Joseph (Noreen), Nicholas DeMonte, Mark Larsen, Jr., Tammy (James) Patterson, Tyler Serianne and Tera Serianne and five great-grandsons. She is also survived by four siblings, Jean (late Jack) Murray of California, Charles (Beverly) Pendergast of Wheatfield, NY, Joann (Ray) Gruarin of Niagara Falls, NY, and Tom (Lillian) Pendergast of Tennessee; her goddaughter, Dorothy DeVantier and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by four siblings, James Pendergast, William Pendergast, Robert Pendergast and Mary Strasburg.
The family will be present to receive friends on Saturday, July 27th from 12:00 Noon until 2:30 PM in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007), where a funeral service will follow visitation at 2:30 PM, with Rev. Robert Hughson officiating. Private burial will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094; or to the Alzheimer's Association of Western New York, 2805 Wehrle Drive, Suite 6, Williamsville, NY 14221.
