- Ida E. Schworm, 79, of the Town of Niagara, NY, formerly of Gasport, NY, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, NY, after a brief illness. She was born on December 14, 1922, the daughter of John and Augusta (Stoelting) Strasburg and had been a resident of Sanborn, NY, before moving to Gasport, NY in 1965.
She moved to the Town of Niagara a year ago. Mrs. Schworm was a graduate of LaSalle High School in Niagara Falls, NY. She was employed for over 25 years as an executive secretary for the Bell Telephone Company, prior to her retirement in 1987. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls, NY, the Telephone Pioneers of America, the American Legion Post 969, Ladies Auxiliary, Sanborn, NY and the International Association of Administrative Assistants.
Mrs. Schworm was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Lewis H. Schworm, who died on May 6, 1999. Surviving are four sisters, Olga Wermuth of Youngstown, NY, Hilda Hermanson of Sanborn, NY, Alma Herbst of Lockport, NY and Elena Read of Sanborn, NY; a brother, Robert Strasburg of Niagara Falls, NY; also by several nieces and nephews. The family will be present at the Rhoney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn, NY, from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and from, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 2759 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, with the Rev. Edward O. Grimenstein officiating. Burial will be in the Mount View Cemetery. Should friends desire, contributions may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, Tri-Town Ambulance Service or Tri-Community Ambulance Service.
