Andrees, age 93, of the Town of Wheatfield, January 16, 2014 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. Edward was born in North Tonawanda on December 28, 1920. He was the son of the late William and Florence (nee Heschke) Andrees. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the European theatre. He was the owner and operator of Gold Star Associates, Inc. and was a former employee of the Wurlitzer Co., the Metropolitan Life Ins. Co. He was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, serving as an usher and member of the Church Council. He was a member and past president of the Rescue Fire Co., a former member of the Adams Fire Co. and was a member of American Legion, Wheatfield Post #1451. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, vacationing with his family, traveling in his motorhome and dancing. He also enjoyed horse racing, playing cards, watching the Buffalo Bills and Sabres. His favorite thing was having a Manhattan for Happy Hour with family and friends. He was the husband of the late Arlene Ellen (nee Freck) Andrees for 63 years. Beloved father of Gerald (Susan) Andrees of Danbury, CT, Ellyn Andrees-Broeker of North Tonawanda and the late Duane Andrees. Grandfather of Karen (James) Dietz and Kevin Andrees of Connecticut, Roger (Linda) Broeker of Grand Island, and Lynelle Broeker of North Tonawanda. Great-grandfather of Max Edward Broeker, Aria Lynn and Karman Rose Dietz. Brother of William (late Dolores) Andrees, and Virginia (Richard) Lemke. Uncle of several nieces and nephews. Son-in-law of the late Clarence and Rose (Dexheimer) Freck. Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd. in North Tonawanda on Monday from 4-8 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM from St. Paul Lutheran Church, 453 Old Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda. The Rev. Ernest Green will officiate. Interment in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the charity of one's choice.
