Norbert W. Fuerch

LEWISTON — Norbert W. Fuerch, age 93, of Bergholz, was called to his heavenly home on April 22, 2012, at Mount St. Mary's Hospital, after a brief illness. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, NY on April 28, 1918, son of the late William and Katherine (Urtel) Fuerch. Norbert was a lifelong member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, in Bergholz, where he served as a former treasurer, elder and choir member. He was also an exempt member of the Bergholz Fire Company and recently received a life membership, after being a member for 73 years. Norbert served with various positions on committees and was a past treasurer and assistant chief. He was a member of the original Bergholz Fire Company Band and continued playing and marching with the Bergholz German Band. Norbert enjoyed woodworking, gardening and golfing. He was employed for many years as a tool and die maker at St. Mary Manufacturing, in North Tonawanda, until his retirement.
Norbert was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Arlene V. (Ausderau) Fuerch, on June 30, 2010; two brothers, Ronald and Melvin Fuerch, and a sister, Elvera Fuerch.
Survivors include four children, Gerry (Sharon) Fuerch of Bergen, NY, Linda (Randy) Jasulevich of Pendleton, Les (Mary) Fuerch of Bergholz and Duane (Janine) Fuerch of Niagara Falls; seven grandchildren, David, Fay, Kari, Melissa, Matthew, Michael and Rebecca; five great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Bonnie, Alex, Abigail and Norah; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road (Bergholz), in Wheatfield on Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Philip N. Sallach on Wednesday at 11:00 AM in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, corner Niagara Road and Luther Street, in Bergholz. Interment will be in Holy Ghost Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
