- ST. ELMO -Albert Duckwitz, 89, of St. Elmo, died 5:25 A.M. Saturday (Aug. 20, 1994) in the Lutheran Care Center, Altamont.
Services will be 2 P.M. Tuesday in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont, with the Rev. Fred Muenchow officiating. Visitation will be after 5 P.M. Monday in the Kull Funeral Home, Altamont. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Altamont. Memorials: Lutheran Care Center or donorâs choice.
Mr. Duckwitz was born March 17, 1905 in the rural Bethlehem community, near Altamont, the son of George and Louise Milleville Duckwitz. He was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont. He was a former director of the Square Deal Milk Association, and was a retired farmer. He married Alma Bernahl in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in 1930. She preceded him in death on Sept. 25, 1975. He married Lenore A. Grobengieser in the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Altamont on Aug. 7, 1976.
Surviving are his wife; son, Lester and wife Betty of Altamont; sister, Mrs. Henry (Louise) Rettinger of St. Louis, MO.; grandchildren, Cheryl and James Duckwitz of Mattoon; David Duckwitz of St. Louis, MO.; Mrs. Jerry (Jayne) Edwards and Vicki Duckwitz, both of St. Elmo; Mike and Mark Duckwitz, both of Altamont; Todd Duckwitz of Sandoval; Mrs. Darrel (Tonya) Gressel of Mason; R.J. Teets of Altamont; seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, one son, Kenneth, daughter-in-law, Shirley, granddaughter, Marilyn Duckwitz, brothers, Martin, Edgar and George, and one sister, Eleanor Goers.
