Harold Marcks, 82, who worked as a dairy farmer for 35 years, died Saturday (March 16, 2002) in Ladder Road Nursing Home, Rochester, after a brief illness.
He was born in Wolcottsville, where he attended school.
In 1935, he married Clara A. Bishing. She died in 1993.
He lived in Wilson from 1940 until 1995, when he moved to Rochester to live with his daughter. He was a resident of the nursing home for about a year.
Marcks was president and a director of Niagara County Milk Producers.
He was a member of the Niagara County Extension Service and received the Distinguished Service Award for his contributions to agriculture in the community.
He also sold Hoffman Seeds for 50 years and received many sales awards.
He was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wilson and president of the church council.
Survivors include two daughters, Mona Baker of Rochester and Marlene Schotz of Wilson, and six grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Paul Lutheran Church, McChesney and Young streets. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria.
