Clara Marcks, 82, an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church who taught school in the early 1930s, died Friday (Feb. 26, 1993) in her home on Cambria-Wilson Road.
The former Clara Bishing, a native of the Town of Newstead, graduated from the Clarence Training School and was a 1932 graduate of the former Geneseo State Normal School.
She taught in the Sandhill schools in Newstead in the early 1930s.
A Wilson resident for 53 years, she was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and had been superintendent of the Sunday school there for many years. She also was a member of the Womens of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
She was a member of the auxiliaries of Newfane Inter-Community Memorial Hospital and the Wilson Conservation Club, and also was a member of the Wilson Historical Society.
Surviving are her husband, Harold Marcks; two daughters, Mona Baker of Rochester and Marlene Schotz of Wilson; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Paul Lutheran Church, McChesney and Young streets. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria.
