LOCKPORT - A Middleport man was fatally injured when he fell 15 feet onto a cement floor in a steam plant here about midnight Wednesday. Walter F. Mietz, 58, of 6361 Meadville Road, Middleport, was taken to Lockport Memorial Hospital by ambulance and immediately transferred to Sisters Hospital at Buffalo, where he died about 3:15 a.m. today. Had Climbed Ladder
The accident occurred at the South Street plant of the New York State Gas and Electric Corp. He had been employed at the plant since 1952. The spokesman said there were one or two other men in the plant at the time who summoned the rescue squad of the fire department. The utility, according to the spokesman, is conducting an investigation into the accident, the first of its kind.
