Roy W. Toellner, 79, who had worked as parts manager for the L.B. Smith Co. in Buffalo, died unexpectedly Thursday (Sept. 19, 2002) in his North Tonawanda home. He was 79.
A Wheatfield native, Toellner was a graduate of North Tonawanda High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Toellner was a life member and past commander of the Wheatfield Post, American Legion, and served as post finance officer for 38 years. He was also an AMVETS member.
He had worked for L.B. Smith for 42 years.
Toellner was an active lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Wheatfield. He was also a 60-year member of Adams Fire Company, and a member of the Niagara County Fire Police Association and the Firemen's Benevolent Association.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, the former Marie Prohaska; three daughters, Mary Zahradnik of Lakeway, TX, and Ellen Brock and Ann Weaver, both of North Tonawanda; a sister, Leona Doebler of North Tonawanda; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. John Lutheran Church, Ward Road and Niagara Falls Boulevard. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery, Amherst.
