- VIVIAN'S OBITUARY
Vivian Jean (Coble) Schul 05/11/1941–03/06/2024
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5
Vivian Jean Schul, 82, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life to her eternal rest on March 6,
2024. Affectionally known by family, friends and neighbors alike as Grandma Jean, Aunt
Jeannie, and “neighborhood mom”, Jean conveyed a gentle and quiet spirit which filled hearts
with immediate peace and joy.
Jean was born in Indiana, PA in 1941 to the late Leah (Deacon) Coble and George Coble. She
appreciated every journey back to Pennsylvania to visit family and delighted in the terrain of
the foothills and valleys she called home. Predeceased by her selfless and amazing sister,
Marian Etta Eichelberger, and beloved brother, Norman Larry Coble, Jean missed them dearly.
Extraordinarily, her namesake, Jean (Deacon) Harshberger, beloved aunt of Jean, made her
heavenly entrance on March 7th, 2024, at the age of 102. We all think they planned this “divine
coincidence”!
Though Jean loved all her family, her favorite role was as loving mother to surviving sons,
Jonathan Schul and Kevin (Tammy) Schul; Aunt Jeannie to Charlene (Art) Sauer, Jeff Cicio,
David Eichelberger, Karen (Don) Pitoniak and Gregory Eichelberger; other beloved nieces and
nephews.
Grandma Jean greatly treasured the time with her grandkids: Hannah, Sarah, Abigail,
Matthew, Benjamin, Stephanie, Ethan, and Andrew. Often playing card games, competing in
rounds of Jeopardy, working around the house together, reading books, taking care of her
goldfish “Fred”, and going for walks, Jean upheld a beautiful picture of God’s grace to her
grandchildren throughout their lives. Grandma Jean’s hugs and words of affirmation were
healing and plentiful for us all.
Grandma Jean will always be remembered for her unconditional love of all: a great reminder
and example to the world of God’s love. We can all learn from her endless patience,
gentleness and contentment.
On Saturday, April 6th, a celebration of life will be held at Forestview Church of God at 1250
Saunders Settlement Rd, Niagara Falls, NY at 11:00 am. Burial will be held at the family’s
convenience in Allport, PA.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial offering would be appreciated for Niagara Hospice or the Niagara Gospel Rescue
Mission: Niagara Hospice, Inc 4675 Sunset Drive Lockport, NY 14094
