Benjamin R. "Ben" Eodice, of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2009, in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, Niagara County, NY. He was born in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY on April 4, 1948, the son of the late Angelo A. "Bucky" and Gloria C. (Baldassarra) Eodice.Ben graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1966 and served with the Army National Guard from 1969 until 1975. He started working for his father at Bucky's Barber Shop at the age of 8, cleaning and gave his first haircut at 16, where he continued working until becoming the owner of Bucky's after the death of his father in 1986.Ben played Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball and was involved in all types of sports throughout his life. He coached Hyde Park Little League for over 15 years and was a member of the Board of Directors for both Hyde Park and the Town of Niagara Recreation Department.Ben had sponsored baseball teams in both leagues for over 25 years and supported many youth and high school sports programs. He was a member of the Niagara Falls Old Timers Sports Hall of Fame, serving as vice president for the past seven years and was chairman of the annual induction dinner.Ben was inducted into the Niagara Falls Old Timers Sports Hall of Fame in 2004 for his commitment for his many years of playing, coaching and sponsoring sports in the Niagara Falls Area. He was honored in 2007 with the "Pep DiRamio Service Award".Ben will be remembered for his love of his New York Yankees and sports memorabilia in his barber shop. He loved spending time with his family, friends and playing golf.Ben is survived by his wife of 41 years, Earnastine "Ernie" (Curtis) Eodice; a son, Benjamin R. (Christa) Eodice of Lewiston; a daughter Gina M. (Rodney) Gilliam of Niagara Falls; precious Papa of Alex and Angela Gilliam, Benjamin and Evan Eodice. He is also survived by two brothers, Paul (Diane) Eodice of Clancy, MT and Michael (Margaret) Eodice of Schaumburg, IL; two sisters, Linda (James) Schoepflin of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY and Patricia (David) Bryk of Coral Springs, FL; and many nieces and nephews.The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, Cayuga and South Ninth Streets, Lewiston, Niagara County, NY, on Sunday and Monday from 1-3 and 6-8 PM, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent dePaul Parish, St. Leo Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, with the Rev. James Fugle officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in his name to the Hyde Park Babe Ruth League, Inc., P.O. Box 2134, NMS, Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY 14301. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, Niagara County, NY.
