Robert F. Townsend, of Newfane, NY, husband of the late Norma Cochran Townsend, entered into rest Thursday, March 19, 2009 in Odd Fellow and Rebekah Health Care Facility. He was born in Lockport, Niagara County, NY, September 8, 1922, the son of the late Grant and Frances Kraatz Townsend. His wife, Norma, died September 24, 1987. Robert had lived in the Olcott-Newfane area most of his life. He enjoyed working on cars and collecting coins. Father of Dann (Avis) Townsend of Appleton, NY, Shelly Stranges of Lockport, Niagara County, NY and the late Larry D. Townsend. Brother of the late Genevieve Swift, Alice King, Harry and Charles Townsend. Also survived by six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2670 Main St., Newfane, NY, FRIDAY (today) from 4-8 PM, where funeral services will be held SATURDAY at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Corwin Cemetery, Newfane, NY. Memorials to Odd Fellow and Rebekah Health Care Facility, 104 Old Niagara Road, Lockport, Niagara County, NY 14094 would be appreciated by the family.
