- PRINCETON - Bertram M. Goers, 77, of 312 S. Chestnut St. died at 6:15 P.M. Thursday, May 10, 2001, at Perry Memorial Hospital.
Born April 29, 1924, in Altamont to Samuel W. and Elfrieda A. Milleville Goers, he married Betty Smith on June 15, 1954, in Murray, KY. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Michael (and Kathy) of Princeton; two daughters, Cynthia Goers of Chicago and Celia Goers of Princeton; two brothers, Harold (and Rachel) of Springfield, Va., and A.J. (and Sue) of Godfrey; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A member of American Legion Post 125, he was a World War II Navy veteran, serving from 1943 to 1946.
He was a 1950 graduate of Capital University in Columbus, OH.
He had served as Princeton Township supervisor.
He was a member and past president of the Lions Club, where he had served on the board and was named Lion of the Year. He also was a member of Lions of Illinois.
He was a member of St. Matthew's Church in Princeton, where he served on several committees and councils.
Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at his church. The Rev. Kim Peterson will officiate. Friends may call from 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at Norberg Memorial Home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to his church, the American Heart Association or Princeton Ambulance Service.
