William Alexander Kelberer, 87, of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, entered into rest on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born on February 19, 1921 in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, he was the son of the late Alexander F. and Ruth (Plumbsteel) Kelberer. On May 29, 1941, he married the former Evelyn M. Sawyer in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY.Mr. Kelberer was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School. William served in the United States Navy, during World War II, from February 19, 1944 until his honorable discharge on January 28, 1946. From 1940 to 1958 he worked for EI DuPont and later for Georges Appliance, Niagara Welders and aided in the construction of the New York State Power Authority, and then for 24 years he worked for General Motors in Tonawanda, Erie County, NY, where he retired from. Mr. Kelberer was a member of the UAW Local #774, the 40 and 8 Society and the American Legion LaSalle Post #1142, where he served as Post Commander. William enjoyed electrical and mechanic work and watching football.In addition to his beloved wife of 67 years, Mr. Kelberer is survived by three sons, Larry W. (Terry) Kelberer of Colorado Springs, CO, Gary A. (Bonnie) Kelberer of Cheltenham, MD and Alexander G. (Cindy) Kelberer of Cape Coral, FL; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. William is also survived by one sister, Gail M. Mason of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one son, William D. Kelberer; and two sisters, Helen Mayne and Mildred Neville.Friends may call on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, LASALLE PARK CHAPEL, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY (297-9007), where a funeral service will be held on Monday, October 6th at 10:00 AM, with Rev. Dr. William Nelson-Loefke officiating. Interment in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1010 Michigan Avenue, Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY 14305
