Peter G. Kirchner, age 90, of Wheatfield, was called peacefully to his heavenly home on May 30, 2015 at his residence, while under the care of his loving wife and Niagara Hospice. Born in Little Falls, NY on September 20, 1924, he was the son of the late Albert and Eugenia (Freeman) Kirchner. In 1942 Peter pursued a course in Aeronautical Engineering, while he was a member of NROTC. In 1945 he received his Bachelor's degree in the field and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Peter served in the Pacific Theater until his release from active duty in 1946. He was a reserve officer in the U.S. Navy Reserves and remained on inactive duty until his resignation in 1959 with the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade . In 1946 Peter joined Bell Aerospace Textron, where he preformed engineering duties on various design projects such as the X-2 aircraft, helicopter, missile and air cushion vehicles, retiring in 1985 after 42 years of service. He was a long time member of St. James Lutheran Church in Bergholz, was an avid golfer in the Bell Retirees Men's League, and enjoyed fishing.
Predeceased by his first wife, Edith Ann (Walck) Kirchner in 1993. Survived by his wife, Janice N. (Milleville) Kysor-Kirchner; son, Carl (fiance;e Alison Edwards) Kirchner; step-daughter, Sandra (John) Schultz; granddaughter, Jenna Louise (Andrew) Corely; step-grandchildren, E. Joshua Schultz and Amanda E. (John) Jasper; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Reece and Deliah Jasper, Lincoln Corely and Isaac Schultz; and sister-in-law, Anne Kirchner; also predeceased by a daughter, Laurie A. Sarratori; two grandsons, Andrew Sarratori and Daniel P. Kirchner; and brother, Daniel Kirchner. Visitation at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME (731-3234), 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Services in St. James Lutheran Church, across street from funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 AM.
