Louis R. Masceri

BEREA, OH — Louis R. Masceri passed away with his family at his side on Monday, March 11, 2013, under Hospice care in Berea, OH. He was 89.
Born in Niagara Falls, NY on September 11, 1923, the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Caprio) Masceri.
He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He enlisted in the Army Air Force on January 30, 1943, and was commissioned as First Lieutenant on October 21, 1944, as a specialty navigator on a B24 in active service overseas during WWII, where he flew on 14 missions to Austria, Czechoslovakia, Germany and Italy. He was honorably discharged at San Marcos Air Base in Texas for active service from October 21, 1944 to December 21, 1945, with multiple decorations and citations.
Upon returning home Louis married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Eisenhauer on December 1, 1945, and they moved to the Town of Lewiston in a home that he built himself.
Louis worked for the Union Carbide as a lab technologist and had to accept a job transfer to the Cleveland area in order to keep his position. After retirement they settled in a home in Berea, OH, where they continued wedded bliss celebrating their 67th wedding anniversary on December 1, 2012.
Louis is survived by his beautiful wife, Dorothy; their daughter, Cheryl Buntin; two grand- daughters, Tiffany Buntin and Lacey Wuest and one great-granddaughter, Milony. He also leaves behind two sisters, Margaret (late John) Elnicki and Rosemary (late Stanley) Van Auker of Lewiston, NY; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Louis will long be remembered as a loving, giving person who wanted nothing in return except your friendship.
Burial will be private with military honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH.
