- MUELLER-Mary M. 92, Upper Nine Mile River, formally of Enfield. Died on August 16, 2007 at Mitchell's Rest Home, Upper Nine Mile River. Born in Upper Rawdon, she was a daughter of the late Ambrose D. and Lena (Wallace) McPhee. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel E. Mueller, in December 1996. A graduate of the Provincial Normal College, Truro, N.S., she taught in Hants and Kings county schools for nine years. During that period she also studied at Dalhousie University and Maritime School of Music, earning her Public School Music Specialist's Certificate. This was followed by three years in the employ of the Halifax County Anti-Tuberculosis League as Secretary for Mass Radiography, a new program established for the purpose of screening pupils in schools and college, and employed groups, for diagnosis, or possible stages, of Tuberculosis. Following this was three years of secretarial work at Royal Edward Laurentian Hospital, Montreal, then a return to the teaching profession for a total of seventeen years in the employ of the Protestant School Board of Greater Montreal, eight years as a Music Specialist. She also completed requirements for a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Sir George Williams University, Montreal. Returning to Nova Scotia she served as Principal of Elmsdale District School, retiring after six years. She and her husband traveled widely during most of their retirement years, also spent time in Western New York where they maintained a residence until 1993. Originally a member of the North Street Christian Church, Halifax, N.S., she was actively interested in church and choir work wherever her location. Predeceasing her were sisters Jessie (Forgan), Annetta (Nettie Fish) and brothers Charlie, Douglas, and Stuart; several nieces and nephews. Mary's family would like at this time to acknowledge and sincerely thank Dorthea and Reid Mitchell and all the staff of Mitchell's Rest Home for the love and compassionate care Mary received over the past three plus years. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie, N.S. Visitation Saturday 2-4 P.M. at the Ettinger Funeral Home with the funeral service 2 P.M. Sunday August 19 in Riverview United Church, Elmsdale with Rev. Betty Darby and Rev. Angus R. MacDonald presiding. Interment in Sandy Hill Cemetery, Belnan
