- Mt Clemens Monitor Leader, June 4 1946
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon for Mrs. Minnie Ziem, age 90 years, a resident of Mount Clemens, for more than a half century, who died late night at St. Joseph hospital following an illness. Active and in full possession of her faculties, Mrs. Ziem, suffered a stroke on May 2 and her death resulted from this affliction. She was a native of Germany and came to this country at the age of two years with her parents and a brother. They settled on a Canal road farm which she made her residence until 1893 when she and her husband, the late John Ziem, moved to their home at 180 North avenue, Mount Clemens, which she had occupied until that time. Mr. Ziem died in 1939. Mrs. Ziem was the second oldest member of Trinity Lutheran church and a leading member of the Ladies Aid. She was noted for her sewing and other church work. Despite her advance age, she remained active in the church group's sewing work and did not have to wear glasses. She was high respected by a wide circle of friends and was a friend and confidant of numerous families. Only two nephews, John F Hasley and Arthur Bitner, of Mount Clemens survive.
