NIAGARA FALLS — Robert G. Brady, lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2013, after a lengthy illness. He was 80. He was born in Niagara Falls on February 24, 1932, a son of the late George and Lillian (Symons) Brady. He attended local schools and graduated from LaSalle High School.
Mr. Brady served in the United States Air Force as an Airman 2nd Class during the Korean Conflict and then worked for Sicoli and Massaro for many years, retiring as a supervisor in 1995.
Mr. Brady married Amelia Kanouff in 1952 and they remained happily married for 62 years, until his passing. He was a member of the Lower Niagara Moose Lodge #584 in Lewiston where he received The Pilgrim Degree of Merit, which is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a member of the Loyal Order of Moose. He played in the original softball league at Swiezy's Grove and was manager and catcher of the Simon Pure fast pitch softball league that won three state championships in the 1960s. He was also a member and Secretary of the Niagara Falls Old Timers Hall of Fame, and he enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting, but his greatest joy was his time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife loving wife of 62 years, Amelia Brady, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two children, Leo J. Brady (1958) and JoAnn Brady (1978); and siblings, Ruby (late Robert) Luick and James (late Janet) Brady.
Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, on Tuesday from 1-4 and 7-9 PM. The Moose Lodge #584 will conduct a Pilgrim Degree Honors Service at 3:45 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM, with Pastor Thomas Mason of the Lutheran Church of the Messiah officiating. Burial will be in N.F. Memorial Park Cemetery in the Town of Lewiston.
